Kassie walked into her office quickly. Knowing there wasn't much time before her class, she sighed. If there is one thing I need to work on, it's prioritizing. She criticized herself over this often.
The first day of classes was always a busy one, and she had so much to do and plan ahead for. She began writing the first lesson on her parchment, and as she did so, she heard a soft shuffling behind her.
Looking up from her work, she saw her innocent daughter, staring up at her. Sighing, Kassie put her quill down and put the parchment away.
Resting her head on her right hand, Kassie looked at her daughter.
"Shailene, shouldn't you be in class? If I'm not mistaken, you have Defense Against the Dark Arts with the headmaster."
She stood up from her desk and brought a chair over, placing it next to her desk. For some reason, she felt this would be a long meeting.

Shailene didn't feel the need to knock. It was, after all, her mother's office. She closed the door silently, not even noticed until she shuffled into the room. She noticed all the clutter, and complained to herself. When will she learn to be organized?
Walking over to her mother's desk, she stood there, waiting to be noticed. Her mother finally looked up and saw her, and she knew that the charms professor was unhappy.
Sitting down in the chair that was brought over, Shailene sighed.
"Yes, I do have class with the headmaster, but there's a problem with that class..." She began twiddling her thumbs, her typical nervous habit. She looked down at the floor, avoiding the angry glare she was sure her mother was now giving her.

Kassie could not believe her daughter had just said something was wrong with the headmaster's class. She looked angrily at her, and she knew that Shailene knew it.
"Shailene, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that class! I suggest you go see the headmistress over this, as I have no control over it. I'm sure by now you know that all classes are mandatory, so I would highly recommend you go see her now."
Sighing, she stood up and walked her daughter to the door, giving her a quick hug before she sent her on her way.

Shailene groaned. That certainly wasn't her reason for being in her mother's office, and she didn't want to go see anyone else at the current moment. Her ears were ringing from everything that was just said. When she reached the door, she turned and hugged her mother, then skipped out to go see the headmistress. Surely her cousin would be able to help her more than her mother did.
